That Time of The Year Again

Well, we all know what time of the year it is. Now, now hear me out before you get all reactionary. Everyone knows the Waynester is an ardent environmentalists. I feel that being one with nature is the absolute only way the collective "we" can ever begin to learn to release our inner-nurturer.

Each year on New Years Eve we are witness to and virtually participate in a destruction on a global scale. I am talking about the so-called waste of energy and natural resources (yes, they are nature's resources. NOT OURS!!!) on the ball drop and neon which is Times Square. I know that Manhattan is the center of progrssive learning, culture, and knowledge. However, it blows my mind that such a group of clear-feeling and sound people can act in such a destructive manner. People have told me the crowds filling Times Square and cheering the unwraught destruction are mainly tourists (probably from the South, thanks again Bush!). Still, somebody should DO SOMETHING.

This is the environment we are talking about people. TAKE ACTION, GET ANGRY OUT THERE.

Why Microsoft is a public good

I have been reading alot lately about the computer company Microsoft being characterized as a monopoly. Well, I agree. Fortunately I use an entirely recycled personal computer. The operating system I use is basically a 'home brew' created by a local pc-smith. Sure I paid more for the system but I would rather my hard earned money going to local providers of all services. Take that Radio Shack!

Back to Microsoft, they really have this liberal angry! Here is a dominant company which is publicly traded and sells its product to the public yet ownership is private. Why is this? Microsoft has become a public good much along the lines of a public utility.

The best remedy to ensure equal access to the 'information speedway' is to regulate Microsoft as a public-private company. Since computers are global in scope the best and most efficient body to handle the development of Microsoft is without a doubt the United Nations. The UN can ensure that all cultural, linguistic, and access needs are given priority for Microsoft products. They can also subsidize the price so the costs of buying Microsoft products will be cheaper.

This is a win-win-win idea for the greater good of all citizens of planet earth. With the profits generated by this innovative approach, the UN can fund the much needed (yet neglected) programs it offers to the less fortunate among us.

Why I no longer post on Daily Kos...

It was a tough decision but I am no longer posting on the Daily Kos. Now before you become reactionary, hear me out. This was one of the toughest decisions I have made. I would say outside of putting Max on ritalin when he was 2, this was the toughest thing I have ever had to do....

I was there with Kos from the very beginning. However, both Kos and his current crop of contributers have consistently moved further and further to the right. I am not sure if this is marketing designed to make more money -or- Kos just getting older and maybe a little more unwilling to challenge the status quo of the machinery running this country and the world.

I will still check in from time to time, but if I want the new type of postings offered by Kos & Co why don't I just watch Faux News ?!?!

Putting People Ahead of Profits

It is rare that I find fault with anything proposed in Europe. Government and political leaders in Europe realize that it is people and not profits which is the measuring stick of a successful community to function. From job-security to free healthcare, European ideals are not just European, they are universal rights!

I hope the enlightened leadership of Europe is not slipping:

My understanding is that DeGaulle wanted to attract arabs to reinforce France's role as a friend of the arab countries and as opposition to USA. Not this multiuracial chaos. But the Jews forced Europe to accept them to prove we are neither racists nor anti semitic. Then the invasion started more and more third world invadors/colonisators (they came here to live accordingly to theirs rules, eg.: the no go areas within european cities) the constant attack from Jews to Ethnic cohesion and European history. The cruel nature if Guantanamo is well documented. Hundreds of innocent Moslems, who had traveled to Afghanistan to attend weddings or for other equally benign purposes, were rounded up by the Crusader Armies because they were frustrated by the severe beating the glorious muhajadeen were inflicting upon them on the battlefield.

Then, as is well known and beyond dispute, these innocent Moslems are taken thousands of miles away from their homes and imprisoned in the hell hole known as Guantanamo. And such terrors and tortures these poor Brothers had to endure -- watching the holy Koran being urinated upon by guards who don't know what hand to wipe their butts with, seeing the bazoombas of sluttish infidel women, and having to helplessly watch the eating of peanut butter sandwiches.

Verily, only a person steeled by the wisdom of the Prophet Mohammed's wise Islamic teachings could withstand such a viscous onslaught of depravity. In fact, it took the cowardly dropping of cluster bombs full of depleted uranium, which also destroyed several nearby orphanages, before Saddam became a glorious martyr.

So now you see how futile your struggle is, do you not? One Arab warrier, even locked in a cell, and tortured with the panties placed upon the head and other cruelties, still has enough fighting spirit to slaughter thousands of Crusaders. Yesterday, I did my part to save the world. On a busy sidewalk, I saw an oppressive but laudable sign that said “NO SMOKING WITHIN 25 FEET” near the door to a yoga studio. I spent half an hour standing in front of the sign pointing it out to people walking down the sidewalk if they were smoking within 25 feet of the sign.

While it’s important that people are permitted to take their medicine wherever they wish, so long as there is a socially transformative sign anywhere, I feel that it should be sternly enforced on all of those people who obviously don’t know how to live, or were made illiterate by not supporting education unions.
